Good News for IT and Telecoms Job Seekers

There are positive signs for jobseekers in the information technology and telecoms markets…

CareerJunction recently published their September 2011 CareerJunction Index (CJI), giving a snapshot of the latest recruitment supply and demand trends in South Africa based on statistics gathered from the CareerJunction job portal.

“The CareerJunction Index (CJI) represents online labour dynamics in South Africa by providing a detailed analysis on the relative ratio of supply and demand in the online job market,” the CJI report states.

According to the CJI report, the South African job market is showing strong growth. “Labour demand has spiked over the last few months as more jobs have become available to career seekers. The remarkable increase in vacancy rates signals definite signs that the market is in recovery phase.”

IT Jobs

Demand for IT professionals has increased considerably since June 2011, the CJI report states.

“Whilst the sector boasts a large workforce, Software Developers, Business Analysts and Software Testers are in short supply,” the CJI report reads.

Telecommunications

Similar to the IT industry, the Telecommunication industry only recently showed evidence of increasing demand for labour following a sharp decreasing trend.

“As more businesses are hiring, the recruitment market is becoming slightly more competitive,” the CJI report states.
