After the financial crisis I think this time the average guy and gal on the street wants to manage their money and budgets more effectively. With products like these they can do that. It beats doing your budget on a spreadsheet anyway. Will be interesting to see what the uptake is...

Have you tried either? What are your thoughts on them?

I signed up for moneysmart back in Nov. It's got some nifty functionality, and as someone who has their financial life tracked in spreadsheets, it's a great tool to have all the info online and to see your spending habits as well as set goals etc. Both companies are still new in the market, so it will be interesting to see how they do, and which other competitor products pop up, as these kinds of tools are already very popular overseas.

For me its more about the purpose they serve beyond the functionality and the technology which gets "Techies" excited. Its more of how these platforms intend to serve people better. Education is a huge requirement in order to people proactively and progessively manage their finances. If your into gaming 22seven is an entertaining way to manage your money, if you are serious and want to get right into the details of what your financial situation looks like, then moneysmart is perfect. 22seven changes your thinking, moneysmart shift financial control and motivates goal setting.
